Spear works surprisingly well in this deck. Good control, lots of removal options. Another option that works well is to downgrade spear to gutting slash, then upgrading geralr aard to geralt quen. I like geralt ard mainly because of the leader ability. He can get multiple units down to a hit point or two which you can finish off with the leader charge.
