This is a damage-focused deck that relies on building up armor on your pirates and ships plus strategic thinning to maximize the value of Compass in R3. Key points: - Onslaught will build armor on in-hand pirates and ships, but only on initial damage, so you want to damage wide as much as possible. This is especially important in R1 because you can carryover armored units still in hand. - Managing your thinning is critical. You want to end up with 3 or less cards in your deck when you play Compass in R3, otherwise you won't get the spawn ability, and that's the potential big finisher. - Thinners include: Vabjorn, Abordage, Raiding Fleet, Knickers, Roach, Dimun Pirate, Magic Compass and Mask of Uroboros. - Veteran units (Yustianna, Bjorn) should be saved for later rounds, preferably R3, although Bjorn can be put back in your hand if you play him earlier. - Terror should be saved until you've built up good armor on it through Onslaught and/or its self-armor ability. - Compass is an echo card, so you can play it in R1 or R2, but this won't trigger the spawn and it will thin 2 cards that you don't get to choose. Best to do this only if you're in R2 and are short on the necessary thins. Mistakes to avoid: - Make sure you play Dimun Smuggler next to a ship to spawn the second copy. This will give you an 8 point play for 5 prov, plus it can damage 2 enemy units giving quick bloodthirst and armor to in-hand pirates and ships. - You should prioritize damaging more units over getting kills because Onslaught only triggers when you put fresh damage on an enemy unit. - Abordage requires 2 bloodthirst, but this includes any new damage that Abordage does, so you can often play it when only one enemy is damaged.
